Shouldn't be too big a problem. You may need a $7 seatpost shim. That is what the shop did when they installed a suspension seatpost on my new Fisher.

If you can find a longer seatpost in a smaller diameter, get a shim to make it fit your seat tube. Obviously, finding a longer post in the correct diameter is better, but not always possible.

I thought the stock seatpost on Fisher hardtails was a 350 x 29.2 But I could be wrong. I needed a shim because the suspension seatpost was a smaller diameter. I think I went from 26.8 to 29.2.
If yours is an older model they must have used smaller tubing. Sorry.
Edit- I just saw your thread on cro-mo tubing. The aluminum is lighter and they were able to strengthen the frames by increase tubing diameter. You have an older cro-moly Fisher with smaller tubing diameters. Disregard everything I posted. I don't know if you can get a 350mm post or not. You may be able to. I just don't know.

Nashbar.com offers their standard Nashbar ATB Seatpost in 26.2 mm x 350 mm. Attractive price, too.
