Time to replace cables/housings on my Campy equipped bike. Preferences?

I do this regularly and have always used the Campy cable/housing kits. There seem to be more choices now, including getting a couple of bare Campy shifter cables and using bike shop generic housings and brake cables.

Any thoughts on other than "pure" Campy cable stuff?

This Ergo Brifters?, or downtube mounted friction shifter Campag?

There are slicked die drawn cables with a smoother surface, done to the bare cable,
+ better quality housing from companies, like JagWire

A step up from bargain sets of cable/housing.

got a good set of cable cutters? , dremel/grinder/files
to prep the ends of the housing?

billallbritten, I used to use Shimano only on my bikes. Recently tried JagWire shifter cable on a recent build and it's no better nor worse than Shimano. I didn't use their cable housing.

Ergo, got the tools, have done this several times (bike is pushing 27k miles), no problem other than having to order the cableset. LBS is Shimano/Apex.

QBP and Shimano have Bulk packages of cables at LBS, for their repairs.. they are good,

just wont be retail packaged. and get the housing by the foot off a similar bulk roll by the foot.

housing ferrules etc..

Upscale Premium.. Gore has a much better than average set of moisture
end seals on their cable sets.

Nokon makes a novel housing setup using aluminum metal tube/beads, so very flexible and non compressible..

Shimano SP41 housing works well with Yokozuna campy cables as well. For 11s systems you should get the campy ultrashift kit.

Thanks, probably go with LBS rather than order.

U can find jagwire housing and cables in almost all the shops around the country, so why dont use those ones?? The generic stuff is not bad at all. The only tweak u have to do is to dremel the cable heads a little bit to fit the campy brifters.

Good luck.

Actually, I keep several Campy derailleur cables on hand, I know the size issue and don't want to be caught empty handed.
