Crank Installation

I am building up my new touring bike and going about installing the crank. This is what I have; http://www.shimano.com/publish/conte...L.-type-..html

I have the BB in but the drive side crank and axle were hard to push through. Should I use a rubber mallet to drive it all the way? As well, should I do the same on the non drive side?

A light tap with a rubber mallet is fine for the drive side. The non-drive side arm should slide on without any help (if not, loosen the pinch bolts and try again checking alignment).

thanks. just wanted to make sure before I started tapping.

Probably goes w/o saying but you want to tap right in the middle of the DS crank in line with the axle as opposed to the crank spider.
