Crank Question

I have a Schwinn S30 it has a 7spd rear cassette with altus rear derailluer. My question is can I put a ICON crank on the bike? The icon came off a 9.8 OCLV trek. The Icon crank has two more teeth per gear than the crank that is on the bike now and was hoping to use it so I would have a taller gear and better high end from the bike. The crank teeth look similar in size but it is my understanding the 9.8 OCLV has a nine speed cassette. Will I have issues?

I am new to bike mechanics so treat me like a moron and beat me like a rented mule if you wish.

It would be easier to get a cassette for the back that has higher gearing, rather than change the cranks out, IMHO.

That assumes he hasn't already got an 11 small cog.

You'll need a matching BB and probably have to raise and readjust the front derailer. The higher slightly gearing won't be worth the money and effort IMO.

Bikes: Catrike 559 I own some others but they don't get ridden very much.

Probably need to add a couple of chainlinks too. Two teeth on the crank won't affect your gearing as much as two teeth on your cassette. It wouldn't be worth doing to me unless the crankset was a gimmy.
