Ritchey Carbon Streem Seat Fit Question.

Greetings, fellow tinker’ers.

I just picked up a Ritchey Carbon Streem saddle, however, I have a few questions. First, do I need a Ritchey seat post to use it? The rails are carbon 8X8.5, and I did pick up a Ritchey clamp kit, as well.

The other question is will this saddle and clamp work on my Bontrager Race (Carbon) seat post?

This info is on the Ritchey site http://www.ritcheylogic.com/dyn_prodfamily.php?k=394100, you will need an 8x8.5mm clamp, does your Bontrager seat post have this or will the Ritchey clamp fit into the Bontrager Seatpost?

The answer is NO. Even with the Ritchey 8X8.5 carbon specific clamp, the Bontrager post is too wide to work with the Ritchey supplied clamp bolt.

Bontrager uses two rubber biscuits and a spring in the post to work with "Standard" seat rails. I tried flipping over the biscuits and got close to making the fit, but the Ritchey bolt was a bit too short. This could be solved, however, by sourcing a longer bolt with proper threading, but it remains to be seen if the Ritchey clamps will properly "Snug" up to the Bontrager biscuits.

It looks like if you have a Ritchey saddle you need a Ritchey seat post. Interestingly enough, if you have a Ritchey seat post, you can use almost any saddle on the market.
