GXP Bottom Bracket Spacers
The instructions for installing a Sram Force GXP bottom bracket call for an aluminum spacer on each side if you have a 68 MM shell. If i install these spacers when i install the crank it locks up when i tighten the crank arm bolt. It works fine with no play or looseness without the spacers. I've checked the instructions online & in print & both say you need the spacers with a 68 MM shell. Are the instructions wrong ? The frame is a Look 585.

One assumes they made a 70mm overall width for the Italian spec,
so there is where the extra length .. comes in. BB spacers are common, used for chain line tweaking.. you screw a freewheel on top of them too. did you ask the dealer who sold you the stuff you have? |
They are wrong. The directions are for the MTB cranks

You probably grabbed one "booklet", saw some English writing, assumed the other one had additional foreign languages on it, and went with your first choice - which in reality was the MTB version. |

I just bought one of these BB's for a project. The box had two instructions sheets in it. One has a outline drawing of a road bike on the "cover". The other has a drawing of a mountain bike. Other than these drawing, there's nothing to indicate the intended application of the instructions. :notamused: It's multi-lingualism taken to absurd limits.
