Headset Threaded to Threadless

Is it possible to change a bike from threaded headset to threadless.

reason i just got a new front fork for MT bike. it is threadless?

i have a threaded headset

if i were to change what do i need?
just a new headset that is thread less and thread less stem?
is that all i would need

this is for a 92 specialized rockhopper.
cheers

Yes, you will need a new aheadset & stem. You will need to confirm the size of the steerer tube you have, as a '92 may be a 1 inch steerer, where as 1 1/8th are most common now.

difference is the top race it slides over a thread-free steerer tube.. ,
but you are not likely to find a half headset.

New headset, new stem, probably some spacers and a starnut to allow adjusting the headset. The starnut should come with the headset. This is a fairly straight forward change and the only thing to be sure is that the headset, frame and fork all take the same size, either 1" or 1-1/8".

I guess the upside is a lot of spare lower races : )
