Source for SRAM FD limit screws?
 

After working on building up my first bike, I need two SRAM Apex FD limit screws. ( Can I blame my son for stripping the heads? Would anyone believe me? I didn't think so ).

So I hit up some LBS's... nobody seems to have any that will fit, either old or pulls from scrapped deraillers. Looking on the net, I see lots of Shimano limit screw replacement packs, but none for SRAM.

So - does anyone have a source for these apparently rare and precious creatures? The SRAM spare parts manual doesn't include the screw sizes - just the part number.

they will need to be 20-25mm long or so. prob m3 or m4 threaded. bring the old screws with you. napa in my town has a little screw checker thing.

Bring the screw to a auto or hardware store where they'll have stainless metric screws (or use brass) Use a nut to identify the thread then buy the matching screw. Odds are you won't be able to match the heads, but that shouldn't matter.

HINT for the future -- lift the derailleur off the limit screw to take the load off when adjusting, or keep your son away from mechanical work.

Screws are usually standard, but be careful with Sram. When doing some work on a contemporary Sram rear derailleur, I realized that the thread I was dealing with was SAE not metric. Maybe that is the reason for the screws from other derailleurs not fitting.
