Alfine retaining ring.
 

Greetings, first time post.

Wanted to strip my hub for its first oil bath and couldn't get past the sprocket retaining ring. It is not a typical snap ring that is split at some point around its circumference. It is one solid ring with two internal tabs opposite each other.

I've tried rotating, prying along the axle and around the base, angry staring, and called my mom to no avail.

Was tackling the wrong retaining ring. That one is for the internal assembly, not the sprocket. Sprocket ring is under the dust cap.
