Foam grips instead of bar tape together with aero/ergo levers?

Hi guys,
Well, I guess the headline says most of it actually. Can foam sleeve grips be used on top of cabling that would otherwise go under the bar tape?

Relative density range on foam sleeves, ... go from soft 'Pyramid' low,
to 'Grab On', high.

They certainly can function over cable housing.. and the housing under.

getting them on there will be the testing, of how much you really want this feature..

Ok thanks. I might give it a go then. I just have to figure out the assembly order to get it all together. Need to be able to hook up the cables and that.

My mid 80's setup on my touring bike was Grab-on grip sleeves on the top
with cotton tape over the sleeve and the rest of the bar, sunlight dried the rubber in them ,
and it granulated away , where you gripped it, tape kept them, functionally, in the shade.

But then, no Cable run, under the sleeve , so sliding them on was simple..

Cut your housings to length before putting the foam grips on. Get everything set to go and then squirt a generous amount of Windex inside the foam grips slide them on and then immediately and carefully slide the housing between the bars and the grips.
