Triple chainring to single--clicking noise
I recently broke down a triple chainring to a single for use on a single speed beater. Chain line and tension are good, but now I'm hearing a clicking noise coming from the chainring. It does not have any regularity with regard to when it happens, and I can't recreate the noise when not riding the bike. The chainring is tight onto the BB, and there's no noticeable play due to any BB problems.
Any thoughts? I've not been able to come across any info on the net about structural integrity problems related to breaking down a chainring like this (though I've not searched exhaustively), but am wondering if that is a possibility. The chainring itself is an old Shimano if that helps.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
