Mavic Bladed Spokes Source?
 

I need to get a non-drive-side spoke for a 2010 Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheel. I've searched, without success. Would anyone be kind enough to point me toward an online source?

These are straight pull, bladed spokes but I'm not sure if they are the same dimensions are what Mavic used on those wheels: http://www.wheelbuilder.com/store/sa...ray-spoke.html

Do you have calipers to measure the thickness and width? If you were in a rush to repair the wheel, a regular round spoke could be substituted in the mean time. Just remember to adjust the tension properly as it will feel different than the rest of the spokes.

Checked with Mavic USA yet?

^^^ I have not, on account of it being a weekend. But I gather that they prefer I go through a dealer, which is what I ended up doing. The dealer is my LBS, but they will be closed next week as the whole crew is headed to Interbike. The spokes have already been ordered.

Regarding the Sapim spokes, it looks like I could probably score some if I knew how long the spoke should be. I'll keep that in mind if there are future broken spokes on this wheel.

Regarding spoke length, it's not that hard to remove an unbroken spoke and measure the length. It might save you some time over waiting on your LBS.

Joejack the spokes in all or in mostly all modern mavic wheels are proprietary. To find a spoke that could fit is not an option because the heads are different to everything known. That is one of the reasons i never bought a modern mavic wheel ever. Besides they looks like propense to snap spokes.

Is that true for the wheels that use stainless spokes too, as opposed to just the aluminum spoked wheels? That would surprise me but I've never taken the time to look that close up.

All new mavic wheels use pull spokes but the "bend" of the spokes have a weird ass shape that only fits in their hubs from that I understand or people would have been using those sapim spokes since forever, all the time a spoke fails the shop has to call to mavic to get the god darn spokes from them. At least with campy u can find the spokes in the market but their spokes fail way less in my opinion.

I do have miche wheelset with a hub that looks similar to the mavic one, the spokes in that wheel are bladed sapim spokes, spokes looks like mavic but the straight "bend" is like any other pulled spoke, u can replace those ones with whatever as long u have the right size, thats why i picked them.


This is a picture of a ksyrium SSC sl spoke and pretty much all the other new mavic spokes have the same butt, the threaded head changes but the butt is the same (or really close) from what I have seen. Even the campy pull spokes have a head that is fflat and triangular.
