Installing Sport LX rear derailleur problem

Have old but standard road bike (Centurion/Diamond Back) with Shimano index shifting. While attempting to reattach the RD to the hanger, turning the RD mounting bolt also rotates and tightens the spring effectively preventing me from screwing in the bolt. What am I doing wrong??

Perhaps you need to rotate the entire body of the RD clockwise so the B-screw in the back clears the B-screw rest on the hanger bracket. Otherwise, the B-screw presses against the hanger bracket and tensions the spring plate inside that mounting bracket bolt.
