can i use them on my 6700 brakesets? there seems to be build up around the pivot points.

What do you mean by "brake cleaners"? Are you talking about the aerosol spray? If the buildup is just dark, dusty buildup, just use a rag, slip it in between the arms and floss away. You don't want to use aerosol spray in the pivots. They're pre-lubed form the factory and aerosol cleaner will flush out the lube.

automotive brake dust cleaner, depending on the brand, can be some of the most caustic cleaners out there. I have seen flexible rubber brake lines fail after being sprayed with that stuff. Unless simple green has a brake dust remover, you don't want to use it on your bike. It will definitely corrode rubber and burn through all of your lubrication in sensitive areas.

That serious overkill to remove a bit of grime from bike brakes. Use a rag and a bit of either oil or kerosene as a cleaner.
