Changing a chainring

Right now I have a Truvativ Blaze 32T single speed chain ring and I would like to replace it with a Raceface 38T 104mm single ring. Would this be possible because of the difference in name brands or do I need to buy a Raceface crankset to do this? Thanks for any help.

If the bolt circle diameters and number of bolts are the same, the chainrings should substitute with no problems.

There are a small handful of things to worry about concerning chainrings. I know nothing of Raceface or Truvativ blaze but guessing HillRider must already know they're compatible.

1. The BCD (bolt circle diameter).
2. The width (1/8", 3/32")
3. Whether it has pins and ramps for shifting or not (SS rings won't).

I think that's about it?

I don't think it's very likely, but if there's any 'dish' to the chainring, the replacement should match it in order to preserve the chainline.

You'll also need a longer chain.
