Serrated washer on brakes?
OK, so on road bike brakes between the fork/frame and the brake there is this serrated washer. What is this for? Is it important? I lost the one for my front brake but installed the brake without it. I haven't had any problems but then if they supply it with the brake it must serve some purpose. Do I need to hunt down a replacement washer?

It's to keep your calipers centered to your tire as bumps on the road or just bumping the brake cable housing going to the caliper can push it off center and result in your rim dragging on one of the pads....

+1, spell check won't correct using the wrong word,
just help you correct it's spelling. When a Brake, breaks, it's broken . (edit) nice to see the correction .. shake proof star washers are often used in mechanical assemblies. there are inside star, outside , and even those that are both.. Note: spring steel, it may rust.. |
