Rear Derailleur Clicking Noise
I just replaced my old crank with another but nicer shimano 600 crank and once I did this, my rear derailleur started making this clicking noise. It is worse in higher gears but still noticeable when I get on the flat. When I look back at the derailleur it makes a clicking sound and the bottom pulley makes a jerking motion forward quite rapidly. It is worse when I pedal hard. Could it be a loose hanger? I'm not sure...ready to give up on it and just buy a new 7 speed. Any help is much appreciated.

Couldn't imagine changing the crank would cause a problem with the RD. This comes to mind:
1) Is the chain catching on an adjacent chainring causing it to pull the lower run of the chain temporarily?
Did you mess with the chain at all? Did you thread the chain through incorrectly so that it rubs on part of the RD cage?

no, I didn't put the chain on wrong. And I made sure it wasn't hit the cage. When I push on the pedal, the derailleur lurches forward. I'm thinking it might be something loose, but I've taken apart the derailleur and greased it and reassembled it and still no luck

Try messing with the b-tension screw to make sure the upper pulley isn't hitting the cassette.
Put your shifters in friction mode and see if you can get rid of the sound by fine shifter adjustment on the workstand.
Lastly, make triple-sure that the chain passes through the cage properly, even if you're really sure that it does. I had this embarrassing problem when I did the RD on my mountain bike.
Does the problem happen with only one chainring, or all of them?

it only happens on the smaller chainring. I'm about 90 percent the problem is because of the chainring...it is pretty worn.
