Have a bike in mind - need help with tech specifics
I've wanted to build an inexpensive mountain bike with an internally-geared hub for quite some time, and am trying to move forward. The bike would be kind of an all-around commuter, leisure, pulling my kids around in their trailer, option for the Katy trail type. With this type of hub, I'm looking for horizontal dropouts for chain-tensioning purposes, so that pretty much puts me in single speed territory, and I'm currently looking at the Dawe's Deadeye through Bikes Direct: https://www.bikesdirect.com/products/dawes/deadeye.htm
I'm sure I'll run into some additional technical issues as the build progresses, but my question is this: since I will have to run an additional shifter cable to the rear hub, will the spare eyelets on this model work (check the additional pictures)? I've never had a disc-braked bike, and I'm not sure if that's what these are for, but I didn't know if they'd also work for the shifter cable.
If it won't work, do you have an suggestions on how I could attach the cable, or any other inexpensive model suggestions that would meet my needs? If this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move.
Thanks.

Yes, the tabs are for disc calipers. The bike is sold "disc ready" for those that want to convert from the supplied rim brakes.
If you convert to IGH, you can run a full length of housing from the shifter to the hub. The housing can be cable-tied to the frame. IGH-equipped bikes from the better mfrs commonly have braze-ons along the frame which allow the housing to be secured for a "cleaner" installation.
That frame does have housing stops and a removable derailleur hanger for those that wish to run a cassette in back. I don't note any rack braze-ons, though there are ways to circumvent that if you wish to install a rear rack, too.
The addition of a new IGH rear wheel will add substantially to the total cost.

Thanks desertdork. Just so I understand clearly - you're saying these housing stops could be used for the shifter cable (versus zip tying to the frame) that runs to the hub?
