Sealed Bottom Bracket debacle

So I've got a Schwinn Moab, needs a threadless sealed bottom bracket because whoever put the last cartridge in ruined the threads. The problem is the threadless bottom brackets at the shop don't work. the threads don't catch when I try to screw the puppy together. I want to order a threadless bottom bracket that fit, but I don't what specs dictate the reach of the threads that grab onto left side of the cartridge. the old cartridge was L-mm110-R.

any suggestions?

A bit pricey but I hear these are good:

You need to measure the width of the BB shell. It may be a 73mm(2.875") wide shell.
There are no threadless BB's (that I know of) for Italian width shells. If the threads can't be repaired, you may have to take it someplace to have the shell, properly, cut to 68mm width.

willing to sacrifice paint... ? strip down to bare frame..
clean out the BB , flux the damaged threads, get out the oxy-acetyline torch
and lay down a layer of brass, , then have the threads recut, repaint, and re assemble.

Probably cost a few hundred ..
