Headset question
Hi
I was looking at a frame sold by nashbar that shows this spec--- Headset size: 1 1/8 traditional press in What does this mean? Does this frame accept both threaded and threadless headsets? Thanks much. sindlero |
yea just get a threaded or threadless headset to match your fork
|
Yes, the frame will accept either threaded or threadless headsets in 1-1/8" size with standard cups that press into the ends of the headtube. I.e. it does not use an "Integrated" headset.
The type of headset you need is widely available, particularly in threadless form, but threaded headsets are also easy to find. |
I also think by "traditional" they mean it does not have a hidden headset like alot of carbon frames sport these days
|
As the others have said, it takes a standard 1-1/8" pressed in headset as opposed to an integrated headset. Whether you need threaded or threadless depends on your fork and/or stem.
For others reading this, Integrated HS vs. pressed-in cups depends on the frame, threaded or threadless depends on the fork and stem. Theoretically there are four possibilities (not counting a change in size) but threaded integrated headsets are truly rare if they exist at all any more. |
Thanks much to all who replied to my question. I'm thinking of copying Lost Architects 3 speed mercier setup for commuting and errands.
Just looking to make sure I get a good stem/bar fit with some flexibility thrown in. sindlero |
