i have a bike with one single chainring type / Prowheel with CNC machined chain guard 52T / i want to change this to a 44t as the bike is heavy and only 7 gears and on the flat i can only ride up to gear 2 and some hills even in first gear i cant get up them . There are 4 locating screws to hold this ring on so what i would like to know is (1) will any 44t chainring fit as there some on E Bay at a good price if not how do i know the type to buy (2) going from a 52T to a 44T would this be to low are would be better with a 46T hope someone can help.

How to measure BCD:
https://sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html#bcd
Once you know the BCD and the number of bolts, you can select a chain ring that will work.

Of course, you may have one that is rivet together - are you sure that they are screws?

Does is look like this: https://www.pro-wheel.com/prowheel/node/230

Posting a picture would be most helpful.

Also what is the tooth count of your freewheel?

What tire size are you running?

If you can post a picture and answer the questions, we should be able to assist you.
