Bottom Bracket Crank Compatibility Question
Hello,
I have a 2010 Scott Speedster s30 with all of the stock components which includes a Truvativ 07BB 68/108 bottom bracket. I was wanting to upgrade all of the components to SRAM force and was curious if this bottom bracket is compatible with the force crankset or if I would need to purchase the SRAM BB? Thanks! Austin |
Don't know which you have, but Truvative came spec'ed with two different bottom bracket types. Since it's OEM and the fact that you gave a length dimension (108mm) leads me to believe that it's a splined crank interface, and the entire cartidge threads into the BB shell. If that is the case you will need a new bottom bracket.
When I look at some pics of the Speedster it appears as though the drive side crank is attached to the bottom bracket spindle with an allen screw. That indicates it is a splined interface. With the Force, the spindle is permanently attached to the drive side crank. That does require the appropriate BB. Force cranksets come in either GXP or BB30. Some SRAM cranks come supplied with bottom bracket cups. Yours most certainly isn't BB30, so you will need a GXP type, which threads into the bottom bracket shell. |
