'Click' sound coming from front rotor with applying the brakes.

I have Shimano SLX M666 hydraulic brakes on my Trek Fuel EX bike. Not every time, but every few times I hit the brakes, I hear like the sound of a 'click'. It's hard to explain what the it sounds like, but imagine tightening a bolt with a socket, and once the bolt is torqued to the max, you just torque it a little harder and get maybe a millimeter or two out of it, the noise that makes when its really torqued out is very similar to what I'm experiencing.

I wish I could put a word to the sound but its difficult. I can try to get some video if that helps of it making the noise.

Is this normal?

It's almost certainly the brake pads moving in the calliper under spring tension. Common solutions to this problem (along with squealing) is to put high temperature anti-seize compound (copper grease) on the back of the pad.
