Having some 12 speed troubles (Derailleurs or freewheel)
Hey guys, i have just got my univega gran premio up and running and i am running into many problems with the damn thing. When i am in my small front ring everything works fine but as soon as i shift into the big ring and the smaller freewheel gears i get almost a full revolution around until it slips somewhat like a glitch and persists as i ride on it. The first problem that was solved was my derailleur hanger was bent beyond belief (Don't know how i didn't catch it the first time around) so anyways i had that fixed up, then at first i was using my suntour superbe pro derailleurs so i switched them out with some cyclones and it keeps happening! WTF? Can anyone lead me in the right direction, I don't think my freewheel teeth are ground off or anything in that area. Help would be very appreciated, Thanks!

Is the chain slipping over the cog teeth? That can happen when a new chain is running over worn out cogs, especially if the previous chain was stretched and left on the bike too long.
If the chain is slipping from one cog to another it may mean that you need to add tension to the shift levers.

Is it a new chain?
Chains need to be replaced when any one foot interval measures 12 1/16 inches.
If the derailleur hanger is straight and if the chain is within tolerance you need a new freewheel. They're not expensive.

Sound like the freewheel may be worn out and slipping internally under the higher toque of the higher gears. You probably need a new freewheel. You can buy a new Shimano 6 or 7 for about $25 or pic up a good used for almost nothing. If you know the gearing you want there should be a couple people here who would sell you one for basically the cost of shipping.

I was thinking maybe the chain needs to be a few links shorter, We'll have to see what happens but it could very well be the freewheel. It's a Regina BX Extra I cleaned it up a bit and relubed it. I'm going to mess with the chain now
