Hub service
 

Hi, I have DTswiss 240 hubs and all is fine but they have 2500 miles on them and wondering if I should do anything to them?? they have sealed bearings so I would think there isn't anything to do to them unless you pull the bearings then the seals and repack ???
My real concern is the free hub pawls <sp? do they need to be lubed and if so what kind of lube and how to do it ???

star ratchet service is easy. pull the drive side end cap off an pull the body off. end cap is on tight. use a light body grease or heavy oil for the ratchet.

Unless it's seen lots of rain, the service interval should be more like 5,000 miles. You might check on the DT site to see if they have a recommended service interval, and what maintenance they require.

In my experience hubs are generally trouble free unless they are abused.

Check for any slack in the bearings, but otherwise if it's running smoothly and quietly, it doesn't need any work. Ride and enjoy!

+1. I downloaded the DT hub service manual with the idea of "servicing" these hubs on my 2003 Zurich (about 1000miles, no hub problems, but I figured I'd like to take them apart and lube them). After reading the manual I decided to leave well enough alone. Yeah, you could take them apart and put them back together, but it seems to me that it would be easy to screw them up in the process. There might be a way to get some extra clean lube into the bearings without disassembly (like spraying in a bit of some silicone/Teflon type lube that would be compatable with the rease already there) but I'm not sure.
