This may be useful for some of you looking to make your gear bike a SS for nothing using all the stock components.

Good:

1. You didn't mess with the dish of the wheel - or make axle spacing changes that messed with the dish of the wheel. So the bike's tracking (one-track) will be fine.

Bad:

1. You are sacrificing parts in the name of convenience - which I have a problem with. Next time, get a crank puller - keep those two inner chainrings. Someone else could use 'em...
2. Punch is a good 911 tool - but seriously, get a lock ring tool. They do go on sale - and they last quite a long time and are less abusive to any cones, bearings and races that come into play.


Editing Recommendations for Improvement:

1. Get a quality DV Camcorder with optical zoom that can record realtime with minimal blur at 29-30 fps raw capture.
2. Use audio to drive your video - not video itself. Be willing to de-link video and audio source - and substitute with separate audio recordings. It allows for better scripting of what you are doing including the use of titles and stills.
