The wheels on my tourer are the first full set that I built and I put the label on the wrong side. Since then, every wheel has the label so that it can be read from the right side and looking through the valve hole in the rim you can see the name on the hub. That's CDO.

Man... 10+ pages. I took a hiatus off from reading this forum for a while, and wow, this thread was pretty darn exhausting on the first day!

At least for your colleague, the wife left him. I know a guy who's wife eggs him on. She takes the heat guy when he's at work and purposely reverses labels, and goes into the pantry and turns the can labels and messes up the stock rotation cycle! She calls it therapy! LOL!

Just last night I was re-building a wheel for which 1/2 the rim label was toast. Neatly tore off the half...smoothed out and re-glued the good 1/2.

Should I do the same for the front?

Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

All right, I will admit it. My wheels on my three bikes all follow theformat outlined by the OP. The labels all face the correct way and the hub markingsare visible through the valve hole. The difference is that they are this waybecause I built them like this. I understood this to be the standard and saw notrouble in making this a part of the builds. If I had "bought the wheelsfor a really good price", I would expect functionally correct wheels thatmight even need to be checked for spoke tension. To expect perfection in anydegree while paying bargain prices is a recipe for disappointment.

This thread is quite entertaining though and I'm all too happy to contributemy small amount towards the next page while boosting my count.

Ha ha, I guess I am the opposite. I have ridden my bike multiple times, and it hasn't even occurred to me to look at my labels.

late to the party, didnt bother with the other 10 pages,..

I'd only do something if it was laced wrong.. the spoke offset in the rim
angled away from the flange the spoke going into it is coming from.

I'd just heat it up, unstick it, and rotate it 180° if it mattered to me.
Considering the faulty lacing pattern, if the front wheel is laced the same way, all you will need to do is take the front skewer out and put it in the other side and turn the front wheel around. That will take care of the sticker problem.

The reason you can see the sticker through the valve hole is because the sticker is used to hide the rim joint. The valve hole is opposite the joint so that the valve stem will help balance the wheel, the joint is usually the heavy side.

It is the hub label that is being seen through the valve hole.

Ouch!

You think that's bad? I got distracted while walking from the parking lot to my office this morning and lost count of my steps. For a few seconds, I was like fossil Dick Clark trying to do the new years countdown. I suppose I could go out at lunch and do a recount. But it wouldn't be the same.

Guys, amirite?

100% of people riding wheels with the stickers going the wrong way and which are also laced asymmetrically will die.
