Phil Wood Hub/ Hub spacing Question?

Hi everyone I was thinking of buying a wheelset laced to some Phil Woods and the spacing for the back hub is 110mm and the spacing for the rear of my bike is 120mm. So would I need to change out the axle so it fits or could I just add spacers? If I do have to change it out would I have to use a Phil Wood axle? Thanks in advance and sorry if anything I said was noobish.

Phil Wood has a website and phone number...

If you were able to find Bikeforums, you are able to find Google and Phil Wood and give them a call...they'll be happy to help.

I know, cause I've lived within a mile of 'em all my life practically - and have been a customer since 1984...

=8-)

Phil Wood axles are unique to Phil Wood hubs. You will need to either buy spacers or send the hub to Phil Wood to change the axle length.

Yes they will swap in axle assemblies , just have to get them there.. take off the Cogs , first !

Bought a bare hubshell at a Sausalito Bike shops Garage sale sent it down for a 126 axle assembly
Toured with a bunch of camping gear on the bike for a decade + ..

Phil Wood hubs, as far as I know, and I have several don't take spacers, but rather you replace the axle end caps. However, many older Phil Wood hubs you can not upgrade, they just don't have the right axle end caps, bearings, etc. Don't ask me, this is just what they told me. Always better to double check with them before you buy.
