Versa VRS-8 installation
 

Anyone installed these? I've got a set I'm tryin to install. The instructions say push the small lever until it stops shifting, so it's set for first gear before installing the inner cable. Except I can't tell that it shifts at all pushing either lever. I supose it's possible that they're defective, but it seems more likely that I've done something dumb. But I can't figure out what it might be.

So, it seems that it came out of the box shifted past eighth gear, and was no longer engaging the racket Some fiddling with turning the piece that turns got it back engaged, and then it nicely shifted down. It's hooked up, and seems to work.
