Think about it. If that was the case the holes would be on the two sides where the rim is. Thats not whats in the photo. The problem is much more likely to be being caused by the valve stem getting hung up and then being driven over continuously because its too close to the outside of the tire - which will eventually cut through the tube.

That's the only explanation for this IMO.

FWIW, I used my Silca Track pump for a very long time, before I realized I was pushing
the bell shaped, air chamber's gasket on too far, up the stem..

now , I put it so it grips the smooth band between the cap thread, and the ring nut thread, and all is well..

easier to remove with air pressure in the hose, & the gasket lasts a long time..

I wonder if the OP puts on the little valve stem thread locker before he pumps the tire up. Some people eschew the use of that little part but if you thread that little washer onto the stem before you pump you can ensure the valve stem is seated properly. I would also suggest going back to the smaller of the two tube sizes.
I would add that floor pumps that screw on the presta valve don't end up pushing down on the valve when they are attached so even if you think that little lock ring is going to cost you 3sec over 4 hours they are helpful in this sense. Not as quick, perhaps, but after too many issues with too many push-on floor pumps I got a Lyzene which does take an extra 3 seconds to screw on, and I like it very much. (and the little Lyzene frame pump is fantastic).

For some reason my floor pump has a threaded schrader chuck, so I use an adapter and it works great.

Threading it on is a slight hassle, but I prefer it to the way other chucks work by a long shot.

To reduce stress on the valve stem I remove the air chuck from my presta valve tube by grabbing the wheel at the valve with both hands and pressing evenly on the bottom of the chuck with both thumbs.
