Childs front fork removal

Is there anyone that can tell me a way to take off the front forks on a childs two wheel bike?
They are different than an adult bike in that there is an extra piece on the top that may be welded to hold the handlebars on
Thanks

either post a photo or find one on the web that looks just like it and post a link. Without more detail, it's hard to offer you much.

This is strictly a guess but I wonder if a compression bolt/wedge is inserted from the bottom of the steerer. Take off the front wheel and look up inside the steerer from below and see if anything is there.

Havent looked closely at a kids bike/trike in like 20 years, but isn't there an analogue to a threaded headset locknut that's a locking collar? Maybe with a square headed bolt? Does that hold the stem in?
