Rear Derailler Help!

I've got a cheap Shimano Tourney RD that I was adjusting and I adjusted it too far with the barrel and it came off. When I try to screw the barrel back on it only goes about a quarter of the way and stops. The piece it screws into is plastic I think. Could I have bummed the threads on the plastic piece? I could use some idea's on how to fix this.

Thanks,

Chuck

Chuck, Disconnect the cable from the RD and pull the cable housing from the barrel adjuster. The housing tension may be causing you to cross thread.

You don't need to disconnect the cable if you have slotted cable stops.

#t=90s
About a minute and a half (1:30) in.
