BB tips and tools - 90's shimano

working on a 97 Giant Rincon

just checking with you guys before i screw anything up ...

the lockring in the picture has to go CCW or CW to remove ??

what park tool would you use to remove the cup ... bbt-22 or bbt-32 ?? or something else ??

Non-drive side? should be CCW to remove both. Either tool should work. The bbt-22 lets you use either 3/8th inch drive socket or big 32mm wrench to torque off the cup. The bbt-32 only supports 32mm wrench, but is more compact and less expensive.

That's a cup & cone that looks like a cartridge except for the lock ring.

Remember the DS is LH threaded.

Depending on how well your BB tool fits, you may want to use an 8MM bolt & stack of washers/spacers to hold the tool snug to the cup on the fixed side.
A little penetrating oil & soak time in advance would be a good idea.
Adjustable cup shouldn't give those issues, but a bit of P oil still can make things easier.
You'll need an HCW-5 or similar for the lock ring. Big water pump pliers, hammer & screw driver etc., depending on if you are servicing or replacing.
