Front wheel stopped rotating

Full Disclaimer : I am not competent in bike maintenance

I have a schwinn world roadbike from the 80's and I had to replace the front wheel.

I put the tube and tire on correctly but when I tried to mount it everytime I tightened it, it stopped rotating. There were these brackets that attached to the fork frame of the old wheel and I tried to take it off by undoing the center axle of the wheel and managed to only get one off. I undid the axle of the new wheel to get one of those brackets off and then put it back on without losing any bearings. Not sure if that is related to my problem.

any advice?

Here's the service routine you'll need to do, or have someone do for you: https://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-...and-adjustment A bike shop should be able to get you back in action for $15-$20 if you're not equipped to do this yourself.

Or Sheldon Browns take on bearing adjustment, great site to find ANYTHING bicycle. It isn't rocket science, but you do need tools that can do the cone and lock nut at the same time.
