Cable stop stuck? Please help

Hey, I'm in process of removing all components from my '97 Trek 5200 (OCLC) frame. The problem is that the cable stop/ adjusters on the DT don't want to come off after I remove the bolt. I am looking to sell the frame so I am concerned about scratching the paint or worse. The LBS suggested that I place a small piece of wood from the back and tap firmly with a hammer.

Has anyone tried this or have any better suggestions? THANKS!

Welcome to the forums! Can you post a picture of the problem? It's easier for people to help if they can see what's going on.

That's a press fit. You should be able to work it off gently with a channel lock.

+1 Grip the cable stop body with a pair of pliers and rock them gently. They should pop right off.

It's always rewarding when complicated directions are followed to the letter. :)
