KMC says: don't use a chain scrubber and solvent

According to KMC's chain maintenace guide: "NEVER EVER use a so-called ‘chain washing machine’ in combination with solvent. This is the one and only sure way to instantly ruin your chain."
Are they correct in saying this? You'd think they would be since they are manufacturing chains.

As mrrabbit said, it's been discussed. To the voluminous information I've posted, I'll add that this may just be a CYA by KMC.
