the centerpull frog!
I picked up a few derelict bikes last year and my daughter said ther is a frog on one?!
I could not understand what she was talking about but there it was. its the centerpull part, funny, but when you pull the brake lever it hops up and down. bike is gone but the frog I have to keep for a special application in the future. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...s/IMG_6521.jpg mike in finland |
Cute. I've seen some other custom straddle cable hangers before but never this one.

Interesting. The word frog is used to describe a number of things besides the amphibian. These things are generally wedge-shaped for a particular function. Examples are the frog on a woodworking plane, used to adjust the blade position, the railroad track frog, which allows a train to move to another track, the violin bow frog, used to adjust tension, and also the wedge-shaped feature on a horse's hoof. I'm guessing that this wedge-shaped cable hanger could also be called a frog. You just happened to find one that illustrates the dual meaning.
Hmm...I may make one. |
