Salsa delgado cross rim opinions
Buliding up a new wheel set, XT disc hubs(36h) that I have and am looking for opinions on rims. Will initially be used in disc brake mode, but want to have the option of a standard rim brake mode. Use is "all around" (light tour, commute, fire roads). My weight is 245(+-) Presently thinking of the Delgadp cross, opinions? Price is a factor. Smallest tire used will be a 32.
Delgado Cross
700c version of the Delgado
22.5mm width, pinned and sleeved,
515 grams
32 or 36 hole, ERD 604
Eyelet spoke holes
Machined brake track
I also already have a Mavic 519(unused) and a Mavic 217(a few thousand miles) that I was going to use, but in this case vanity wins out as I want matching black rims for this bike(on the other hand I could live with the silver mavics ).
thanks, Brian

Agreed with the thumbs up. Still any "golden" rim can be trashed in the first ride with a booboo... Andy.

I ended up with Velocity Psycho rims, very strong, 32mm wide, non-machined sidewall bmx rims built with double-butted spokes and Deore hubs. The hubs were chosen over XT on the advice of several people on a touring forum. The consensus was that XT hubs were lighter but less strong and less reliable than the cheaper Deore hubs.
