Im super frustrated, and trying to find easier solution. I bought a allensports ast -100 trailer and not much room to successfully connect it on the left side of the axle. Its short. Should I contact allensports for advice? I bought it from amazon. I dont have access to a local bike shop, especially since its just me and my toddler. Im thinking that I might need to try a different trailer, which would be a hassle. Still, even with a coupler on it it might not work. Can I purchase an extension bolt?

There are many ways to attach a trailer, do you have pictures of the means of attachment for this specific trailer?

What kind of bike do you have? Do you have nutted axles or quick release? If QR, are you trying to get the trailer mount between the locknut and dropout on the axle?

One thing too ask do you have any access bolt room on the right side, if so you may be able to adjust the axel slightly to the left. Also just go ahead and contact allensports they may have an answer for you worste case senerio is they don't and you have wasted a a hour or so of your time.

It appears to be designed to clamp onto the left side for bolt-on wheels. You'll need an extra 1/4" of axle to accommodate the mounting bracket. Pretty simple to slide the axle over to the left that much. If you've got quick-release wheels, you'll need to convert to bolt-on or get a bolt-on wheel. Even if you can somehow manage it, I wouldn't trust a QR-skewer to hold the trailer on.

I will post a picture as well as try shifting it to the fleft although I briefly thought about that idea, but I really do think its exact and I wont have space. Will keep you posted.

I will post another pic nce I have more battery power. It looks as if the fender screw is in the way, but I dont want to remove the fender As you can see the bolt is like a washer and bolt in one. I think if I had just a simple bold it would go on better.

Use a socket & ratchet to loosen both fender bolts (not a screwdriver). The holes in the brackets are typically slotted and much larger than the bolt. Lift up on the upper fender bracket while you tighten down the bolt. Then repeat for the 2nd lower fender bracket.

This may get you another 1/8" clearance and you may have enough room to tighten down the trailer bracket.

Or, stack the fender and rack in the same [top] hole.
