Force crank gxp bb problem

I am installing a Force crank set and a GXP bb on my tcr advanced, but I am having a bit of trouble. I read the instructions that came with the bb and crankset. Followed them to the letter. I measured the bb shell and found I have the 68 mm shell so I need to use the 2 spacers provided with the bb bearings. I installed these and the bearings, no problem. next I greased up the crankarm/spindle and slid it in, again, no problem. I then put the left crank arm on the spindle and snugged it up. A dragging sensation is felt, as if something is rubbing. So I disassemble and look at everything. There is a drag mark inside the spider where it has been rubbing on the bearing external cup. The bb cup protrudes past the bearing a few thousanths. If I tighten the crankarm bolt any more than just snug it wont turn at all. It acts like there should be a spacer between the bearing and the spider but nothing is shown on any of the instructions.
Is there a different crank arm for the different types of bb's?
Any light anyone can shine on this would be appreciated.

Remove the bearing spacers and reinstall cups.

Did you get that sorted out?

spacers are only needed for mtb cranks in a 68mm shell.

yes. I had the spacers installed. They dont go on road bikes. The instructions didnt mention that fact. It only said if 68mm shell install the spacers so I did.....oooops. but all is well, it works sweet. just did 50+ miles on it.

Yup, because there are both 68 and 73mm bb shell widths for mtb and gxp mountain cranks than road are longer to be universal for both shell sizes.

I'll let you all figure out how thick each of those two spacers are.
