What's the best way to fix my gear shift?

Hello, I have a Dahon "Classic III" three speed folding bike, utilizing the Sturmey Archer 3 speed shifting system.
Well, one day I was riding and I noticed it looked like the nut was turned the wrong way and loose, and the chain on the gear had too much tension. I decided I would fix it as soon as I got home (after all, I don't usually carry a wrench set on me). I got home and checked it out, and nothing changed. By the time I found my tool kit the tension caused the chain to snap off from where it attaches (the actual chain didn't snap, it just snapped off of the metal piece it's supposed to connect to). I was considering getting some kind of metal bonding agent, such as epoxy, but I decided that I'd rather not because that chain is going to be under a lot of stress and I don't know how long it would hold out.
Plus another part of the chain looks pretty weak and may also snap even if I get it fixed on there properly.
I found these gear shift systems for sale, but it's pretty expensive. They do sell small pieces of it individually for a reasonable price, however, so I was hoping maybe I could just repurchase the parts I need to fix it... but I don't know what to call it.
So, now it's picture time

Here's the picture I took of the broken gear shift:
Pic 1 demonstrates where the chain should be connected.
Pic 2 demonstrates about how it normally looks (though I just set the chain inside to show you, it normally doesn't have the slack in that pic)
Pic 3 and 4 show it in it's current state.

I'd like to get a new piece, but I can't really spend more than 30 bucks or so, so I only want the piece I need. If somebody could tell me what that piece that broke is called. I can't really find it for sale without knowing what it's called!

And I may bond it, but only as a last resort if I can't find the piece in my price range. If I do have to resort to that, what's the best bonding agent to use for a piece that will be under a lot of stress?

I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Oh, I found this...
https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-SPEED-INDICATOR-CHAIN-STURMEY-ARCHER-COMPATIBLE-SA125-/300439458505?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f39652c9

That piece should fix my problem, right?
Do I need a specific size or should any Sturmey Archer 3 speed chain indicator (yeah, I found the name) work?
Thanks.

Don't see a link to your pictures. Can't imagine what would cause so much tension to actually break it, but anyway, I don't think if I'm understanding correctly that it's the indicator that's broken. More likely the piece it screws into that houses the cable pinch bolt. That part is available separately.
Make another try at uploading your pictures so we can be sure.
Also, sounds like you need to do some reading so you understand how to set and adjust cable tension for proper shifting. It's not that hard, but if done improperly will A) not work, and B) damage the hub.

Source for these parts.
