Question on Rim Size and Tire Size
I have a mountain bike that I would like to occasionally use on the street. I was thinking of keeping two sets of tires (tires only, no rims). I would swap on a thin 1.75" tire for the road and use the 2.25 for off road.
Anyone know if rims come in different width sizes? If I currently have a 2.25 tire on there, I should be able to fit a 1.75 as well, right?
I know having a separate set of wheels would be easiest, but I just havent been able to find a used set yet.
Thanks!

Should be OK to do this and yes rims come in different widths. https://sheldonbrown.com/tire-sizing.html has a chart about 3/4 of the way down. 1.75 = 45 mm, 2.25 = 57 mm Your rim may have a sticker that says 559X25 and it wouldn't surprize me if it wasn't a 559X19 as it seems bike mfg's put much narrower rims on their bikes than what this chart recomends.
