Shimano Altus A10 Rapidfire Plus. Is this norman?

Hello: I have an Connandale H400 that has Rapid Fire Plus shifters. The rear shifter can shift large to small fine using the trigger. Howver, when I shift with the thumb shifter to go to a larger gear, there is an option. If I shift the lever short (small stroke), it changes to the next larger gear. If I press the lever all the way, it shifts three gears up. Is this normal or is there an adjustment so all the shifter to go to only one gear at a time? Thanks in advance, TM.

My trigger shifter will shift a couple gears at once if I push it far enough.

This is normal. Or Norman, if you prefer.

OP: you're good. It's a "feature"- a big sweep like that lets you get across the cassette quickly when those short but steep hills jump out at you.
