Shimano - Campy Chain Ring Compatibility

I have a 10 sp FSA Gossamer 110mm BCD crank set. The rest of my drive train is Shimano. I want to replace both chain rings. I'm looking at these two:

http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/roa...ng/STROCHRI370

One is made from 7075 aluminum but says it's only compatible with Campy. The other one is compatible with Shimano but made from 5083.

Are they actually different? What are the consequences of using the Campy ones on my bike. I wore out my last set quickly and want the better alloy.

My guess is the campy model is made for campy cranks with "offset 110" bcd. They will only fit campy and fulcrum cranksets.

Campy chainrings aren't compatible with anyone else's. The standard road rings have a unique 135bcd, and 110bcd compact drive rings have one hole off the circle just to keep folks alert.

I wouldn't call 135 unique, more like a standard that didn't catch on. Campy and miche still use it but I believe sugino and a few other smaller companies have used it at some point. Contrary to popular belief, many people sell 135 rings. The 110 offset is annoying and disappointing.

Campagnolo 110 wont fit in the crankset you have, one of the holes in the campagnolo 110 is not 110 but 112, offset.

On the day someone successfully bolts a Campy ring to a Shimano crank or vice versa, Hell will freeze over and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse shall ride forth.

80's <C> pursued the MTB market. I got one of those cranks. [Olympus]
pretty interchangeable with M730 XT crank.
110/74. fits on same BB spindle.. I have used both on my Touring bike.
with Euclid Ft/ RD.. also from (now, abandoned) MTB sector.

NB there are several after market sources of 7075t6 /Ergal chainrings.

TA for one ..
