Separate cogwheels

Hi,

Since I might be biking in the alps again this year and I'm looking to get some lower gearing. I was thinking of removing my 11t from my cassette and adding a 32t on the other end. However, I have been looking for a while now but can't seem to find a manufacturer of separate cogwheels. I know Marchisio makes them, but they don't go higher than 30t.

Does anyone know where I could find a separate 32t cogwheel? I'm in Holland so it should be a place that ships there...

Thank you very much!

It would be both cheaper and easier to buy a complete 12x32 cassette. Changing from an 11T small cog to a 12T small cog would require buying both a 12T first position and 13T second position cog as well as the 32T big cog. Individual cogs are hard to find and expensive if you do. Also, to clear a 32T cog, you may need an MTB rear derailleur as most road rear derailleurs won't work with that large a cog.

Thanks for your reply. I was aware of the fact that I'd have to buy a new derailleur, was thinking of the SRAM apex. Marchisio makes separate (12t) first cogs and they're not too expensive (~10 euro) but I didn't know that also the 2nd one is special. I actually have an old (but not worn) cassette somewhere, I could use that first position 12t but I guess you're right and I should start looking for the price of a new cassette. In the end if I use it only a week a year it's an investment that will last me a while.

I would still be interested though to know other manufacturers that make separate cogs.

What are you using for a shifter? You are aware that Shimano shifters won't work with a SRAM derailleur.

They are SRAM Rival shifters so that shouldn't be a problem. That's interesting though, I thought SRAM and Shimano are fully interchangeable?

Their cassettes are. Their shifters and derailleurs typically aren't.
