Avid Shorty 4/6 disassembly

I am using Avid Shorty 4/6 cantilever brakes. About 2mm of the top of the return spring seems to have sheared off and it no longer makes contact with with a stud on the brake frame. As a result the pad rubs against the rim and the brake is useless. The spring is made of a simple bent wire that seems to be about the same diameter and strength of a spoke, so I was hoping to cut up a spare spoke to see if that would work. However, I cannot figure out how to disassemble the brake. The Avid parts manual shows a separate part for the spring, so I'm assuming it's replaceable. I don't think this is a press fitting and there aren't any obvious places for common tools to be used. Does anyone know how to disassemble this brake? Thanks.

no attempt was made to spring temper spoke wire.. wrong material to use.

you may find V brake spring of similar shape.. IDK ,I'd just put on a new brake .
if you are not savvy enough to do the job, right,,, a poorly done brake is dangerous,
considering the brakes are pretty cheap, new.

riveting things together lowers costs
over tapping threads, for using machine screws..

perhaps bike's components are still new enough to be in warranty.
