Noob question: Bottom Bracket Tool

Hey guys, I want to regrease my bottom bracket as I am hearing a "click/clank" sound through every revolution when I'm pedaling. My question is that the lockring on the bottom bracket of my bike has 16 teeth but the design is inconsistent meaning that there are 4-teeth, a gap, 4-teeth, a gap, etc. Would the standard 20-teeth BBT work on my lockring? TIA. :thumb:

How old is your bike and what's the make and type of the bottom bracket? Are you sure you are looking at a lockring and not just the flange of a cartridge bottom bracket or an external bearing bottom bracket?

If you don't know how to upload a pic, I suggest now is the time to figure it out.

My bike is new. I'm not sure of the type of bottom bracket that I have because it's not listed on the manufacturer's website. It's an internal bracket from what I can see.

I do. I just have yet to take a picture as I rarely get time in the day to do so. You know the old saying: There's not enough time in the day!!

Hey guys just wanted to update this thread. I ended up buying two "Park Tools" tools: Crank puller and Bottom Bracket tool. The tools worked and I was able to regrease the entire areas that needed regreasing. Thanks for all of the help and happy riding!
