Chain is looped!

Idk how it happened but my friends 21 speed road bike has 2 loops in the chain. I can usually figure this out but it takes about an hour of looking at it and it just sucks. How do i take loops out of a chain with NO tools iv done it before a million times (it just takes time and i never remember how i did it). THERE MUST BE AN EASIER WAY. a video would be a huge help!

If the double loop is on the same section of chain, or the chain is off the bike, slowly walk one loop along until it merges with the other and both should disappear.

Otherwise, if the wheel or derailleur were removed, it's possible that the RD or cage are rotated 360° creating a loop.

As you say a picture would help, but we can't picture a solution until you post a picture of the problem.

This thread reminds me of someone who posted a thread about the same issue and referred to them as "a$$holes".

I've had to really struggle with some of the weird sort of looping phenomena that can happen, and would readily have just un-done the quick-link if it wasn't a Shimano chain.

I will see, next time, if FB's simple-sounding solution bears fruit. Somehow, it has at times taken me longer than expected, but I was perhaps being not approaching the problem in the most orderly way.

I can at least say that it seems to always be possible to un-loop a chain without cutting... ...so far.

Well, the loops formed without the chain being cut so there must be a way to remove them the same way.
