hubs

I'm building a Trike from scratch and I can't seem to find single sided hubs. I'm going to use road bike 700c wheels, so hubs need to fit these kind of rim.

Anyone know where to get them?

This bike will be built with parts on hand and other less expensive parts. This bike will be used mainly to pick up groceries and similar. no need to get into the triple digits on cost, so spinergy is kinda out. It I will see how wheelchair wheels fit my design and check on ebay for some good deals.

I don't plan on using a differential. It's going to be similar to how a go Kart rear end is set up. Simple yet works great.

I might use a 3 speed crank if I decide I need some gearing.

No, a solid axle works okay... lousy for tighter turns at lower speed, probably lots of tyre wear.

Check with Phil Wood, they do lots of wheelchair stuff and probably have something that will work.

Phil Wood? That's pretty spendy gear, innit?

Your right about that. But this will mainly be ridden in a strait line to the grocery store. Very few turns and they coukd be made gradual if needed.

If you want to avoid using a differential, just go with one-wheel drive, with a jackshaft arrangement to get the drive across to one rear wheel. Alternatively, use a front-wheel-drive MBB setup with undriven rear wheels. This would allow you to use wheelchair hubs.
