Need some more info, since I don't have an encyclopedia of the specs of every bike ever built.

Describe the cranks, or select from the 3 most common types pictured below.

1- Ashtabula, one piece S-shaped arm with bolts at the center of left arm
2- cotter pin (upper photo) steel with a pin and nut across near the center
3- cotterless, (lower photo) aluminum, with a bolt (maybe hidden under a dust cover) holding it to the end of the shaft. (not likely given your bike)

Very funny- it's the s shaped crank-
It will NOT budge- I can't figure this damn thing out and I'm getting ready to throw a monkey wrench at my head.

Yeah, just tried again- the chainring hits the frame when I try to take the s crank out

I've had this problem with one-piece-cranks (took a nice chip out of the paint on one of my frames once). The trick is in the direction you tip the crank. Try and tip it so that the chainring tips outwards at the top, and inwards at the bottom where it can't hit the frame. Also, it usually helps if you remove both the sets of caged bearing balls (assuming they're caged).

+1, you may just have to shift it around until you find a direction which works. Somebody got the crank into the frame, it will come out the same way.

Just so everyone knows, this thread got forked into "Help Me Please!!!" thread...

...problem has already been solved...OP finally nailed it late last night.
